What is the Triangle of Success?

The triangle of success is a simple model you can follow to succeed in any aspect of your life. The paradigm started out many years ago when Johnny first started his path of self-development. Working a dead-end job and not getting into any colleges, by serendipity he came across the book, “Feel the Fear and Do It Anyways” by Dr. Susan Jeffers. This book helped him develop his own method and helped get Johnny started on the path of self-improvement and self development and the beginnings of the triangle of success.

Why do I need the Triangle of Success?

Finding a good model or example can be a harrowing experience for you. Countless self-help are out there like “___ for Dummys”. Entire book sections are dedicated to this are of life.

We developed this paradigm to give you a simplified way to look at your life, and hopefully you will be able to apply this to your life, and really anything you want to improve or learn.

Look at this simple diagram of the Triangle of Success Paradigm.

Looking at the top point…

MINDSETS AND BELIEFS.

This is the most important aspect of the triangle. You have to absolutely believe that you can accomplish what your goals are. You have to believe in yourself or the game is already over. You will be fighting a losing battle. Cultivating proper beliefs is an essential part of meeting your goals.

The 2 fundamental points to building proper mindsets and beliefs are:

1. You must adopt a positive attitude about yourself. (ie. self-esteem) You must believe in your own ability to succeed and achieve goals.

2. You must gain acceptance and a positive belief about the things in your life that are out of your control such as your gender age, race. or height.

Way too often people make excuses for their lack of social success. I’m “too old.” I’m “not attractive.” “I’m asian”, therefore I’m already socially inept, black, white, whatever it may be.

All of these things are out of your control if you change your beliefs to look at things that are out of your control with a positive spin, many doors will open up. You have to play the hand you are dealt, one shot at life, so make it count.

We would be doing a disservice if we didn’t give you methods for helping you change your beliefs. It’s easy to just say change it, so we want to share with you a technique that has worked for us

AFFIRMATIONS

What is an affirmation?

An affirmation is a positive statement about yourself in the first person.

So what is a good affirmation?

A good affirmation is a statement that is in the present. For example, if you want a social affirmation.

“I am social, I am life of the party, I love my friends My friends ove me, and I have fun.”

It must be in the now, not in the future, because when you say your affirmation, your brain registers it as truth, and it processes it accordingly. You are conditioning your subconscious brain to think you are already that way. The result is your conscious brain will feel the effect and your behavior will change in your social interactions

When should I read my affirmation?

You want to read these every day at least twice a day. Once in the morning. Once before bed. You may not believe these work, but they do. Repetition is the mother of all learning, and repeating this basically burns this into your brain. Conditioning your brain.

A positive affirmation about exercising is…

I exercise on a regular basis, at least 5 days a week. My cardiovascular health is in top form. My muscles defined in a manor that makes me look like a chiseled specimin, and I work hard to create and maintain this lifestyle. I exercise with extreme regularity, because I realize that without my health I have nothing.

Reading affirmations out loud helps immensely. Even in the morning, it can not only reinforce your positive beliefs, it can serve as a motivator to get up and get to the gym. It’s a very powerful technique.

You are essentially reprogramming your mind to think more positively versus more negatively. Affirmations train your unconscious mind to seek out signs of success in your daily life versus signs of failure.

We always like to think we’d rather suffer from delusions of grandeur rather than delusions of failure. The reason for this is because delusions of grandeur helps us take action. Even though we may fail, we still always learn from that failure, and are moving forward with our life and whatever we set our mind too. Delusions of failure causes us to be lazy, procrastinate, and NOT take action.

If you would like some good reading material check out, “Quantum Success” or “Secrets of Attaction” by Sandra Ann Taylor.

Moving on to the next point of the triangle…

BARRIERS.

You want to remove barriers to your success. Barriers that are within your control. Things such as your general appearance, your style, hygiene, how you spend your time, and the kind of people we associate with.

One of our favorite examples is television.

TV!

Recent studies have shown that the average person watches 4 hours of TV a day. That equates to around 60 days of TV a year!

If you want to get this area of your life handled, you can probably spend less time in front of the TV and more time out meeting people. Reducing television intake is such an easy thing to control, and you will have much more time to pursue your other interests.

The last point of the Triangle of Success is…

TECHNIQUES

The reason we use techniques as the final point is because cultivating positive mindsets and beliefs without positive action is like mental masturbation.

With Mindsets and Beliefs and removing barriers, we have opened our mind and cleared our path towards success. We accept the things that are out of our control and we have a positive attitude. We have eliminated roadblocks to our success. Now we need action to start moving towards our vision and goals.

Now we really start practicing success, where the rubber meets the road so to speak. With techniques, we are creating and implanting our game plan or framework towards what we’re trying to achieve.

Some techniques involve finding good mentors, writing down goals, reading the right books, studying the right thing, this is the active portion of the Triangle of Success.

One technique is… Writing a SMART goal. You may have learned this in school before, but we feel it is a very effective method for setting goals.

S.M.A.R.T. Goals

S.pecific
M.easurable
A.ction oriented
R.ealistic
T.ime bound

Your goal should match each of these criteria. For you to say you want to make a million dollars, that’s a very general goal. A better SMART goal would be, “I would like to make a million dollars by the age of 36 by starting a company that helps people improve their lives.”

Or an example of a social SMART goal would be… I am going to attend 3 cooking classes and host a dinner party for 10 people by the end of December.

Why is this a SMART goal?

It is specific. Yes. You plan to host a dinner party.
Is it measurable? Yes. You can count the number of classes you attend, and whether or not you hosted the party.
Is it action oriented? Yes. You will be taking classes and cooking for your party.
Is it realistic? Yes. 3 classes and one dinner is totally realistic.
Is it timebound? Yes. You will have completed this goal by December.

This technique is powerful, and we wanted to just share with you something we think works. Again, you must do what is right for you and develop and use techniques that is best for you.

To recap the triangle of success, the top point is cultivating proper Mindsets and Beliefs. Where we are accepting the things that our out of our control and developing a positive attitude.

The left point is removing Barriers to your success. Taking charge of things what are completely within your control.

The final right point is Techniques or practicing success. Using tried and true techniques from people who have already gotten to where you want to be, and applying them to your life to get your specific goals.

To move most efficiently towards your vision of success, you must take positive action in each of the 3 areas of the triangle.
